Call me Sage. I first got into the exciting world of Eve after hearing about the Band of Brothers disbanding. Since then, I’ve dabbled in nearly everything Eve has to offer (and thus excel in none of them). I’ve done some carebearing, enough missions to get me jump clones, POS defense, alliance fighting, 0.0 ratting, wormhole exploring, ninja salvaging, exploration site probing, daytrading, hauling, manufacturing, and lowsec pirating.
Despite all that, I think of myself as a yarrbear. I yarr, and love every second of it, but I also make most of my ISK doing “safer” ventures to fund the yarring (I always forget to unload loot from my cargo and end up losing it when I pop). This yarrbearing also allows me to experience a larger portion of Eve than a pure pirate or pure carebear would normally get. I feel the adrenaline-pumping risks of lowsec, and I feel the [relative] safety of highsec.
As expected from any Eve player, I also find Eve to be fascinating. Every battle, every encounter, every asteroid (well…I do have to disagree with that one) is different and unique. The tales I tell here and advice I give are based on the experiences and encounters I’ve had in the vast universe of New Eden…
I love how you can have fun bantering in local with people you’ve just lost a ship to.
I love how you can spend hours and hours just creating fits for ships.
I love how you can fight alongside others to pop enemies.
I love how you can spend time alone just blissfully cruising around.
I love how you can find people who think and act like you.
I love how you can get along with people with totally different personalities than you.
I love how the market and other aspects are “lifelike.”
I love how the internets spaceships are absurdly impractical (eleven engines on a Rifter?) yet awesome.
I love how Eve manages to extend beyond the computer.
I love the innumerable sites for ship fittings, market tweaking, blogging, and storytelling.
I love how you can never say “I know all there is to know.”
And I love how you can never stop listing things that you love about Eve.
