That’s the amazing fit I made for the Rokh. It’s even in EFT format so you can easily import it. It’s for those battle-scarred PVP veterans who have decided that shooting rocks in space is a much better way to earn ISK than fighting and losing ships.

In all seriousness though, the Rokh is the optimal mining ship for those who want to imitate Chribba. It has more CPU than any other battleship, and many high slots for mining lasers. Let’s compare this to a Covetor fitted with T2 Veldspar Mining crystals (as everyone mines that these days).

Ore yield (IMHO the whole point of mining): 1162 (Rokh) vs 1234 (Cov)
Defense (so NPCs don’t pop you): 354 hp/s vs 7 hp/s
EHP (so suicide gankers don’t get you): 68,244 vs 5,206
Mobility (when people bump you away, this is important): 111 m/s vs 79 m/s
Cargohold (well, everyone jetcan mines or has an Orca these days, so it’s irrelevant): 951 m3 vs 7756 m3
LOL factor (self-explanatory): OMGWTFAMAZING vs meh.

As you can see, this ship is quite capable. If you’re going to mine in a non-mining ship, if you’re going to stand out among the barges, if you’re going to make roids run for their lives, USE A ROKH.

Plus carebears will get scared of you, leaving the field (and their drones) all to yourself. E.g. If you’re mining one day in a barge and a Rokh piloted by a guy with a -1.9 sec status yelling “ALLAH ACKBAR” in local warps in, you’re gonna RUN.

You can admire this fit and view comments on Battleclinic: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/25971-Mining-Rokh-FTW.html

EDIT: Apparently Covetors aren’t the new gold standard for mining ships today; hulks are more fashionable (aside from noobships). So let’s compare the Rokh of Awesomeness to this new contender (again, assuming T2 Veldspar crystals for the Hulk):

Ore yield (IMHO the whole point of mining): 1162 (Rokh) vs 1419 (Hulk)
Defense (so NPCs don’t pop you): 354 hp/s vs 73 hp/s
EHP (so suicide gankers don’t get you): 68,244 vs 11,802
Mobility (when people bump you away, this is important): 111 m/s vs 88 m/s
Cargohold (well, everyone jetcan mines or has an Orca these days, so it’s irrelevant): 951 m3 vs 10,580 m3
LOL factor (self-explanatory): OMGWTFAMAZING vs thisissolamethatiamgoingtokillmyself.

As you can see, the Rokh has pwned the Hulk. You get 81% of the ore yield of a Hulk (but the time saved from having to train Exhumers V will allow you to train your ore processing skills, so it evens out). You have far more defense (you can sit there and mine blissfully even with a can flipper in a frigate shooting at you). It takes 6x as many disco-geddons to kill you. You are faster AND have that tractor so you can drag cans and perhaps Minmatar can flippers behind you. You have a cargohold small enough that you don’t sit there wondering what you’re going to put in it. And you have the LOL factor on your side, not to mention the ability mentioned earlier (scaring other miners).

If you start taking into account mining anything ov value you’ll go with the hulk, the extra cargo hold is incredibly valuable, and my hulk mines closer to 1547 veldspar, has a an ehp of 12796, and reps 114 shield. It doesn’t beat the rokh on paper but in practicality It does for sure. An Ive easily soloed and killed a three BS spawn in a true sec system of -.84 as I don’t use mining drones I use hammerhead 2’s. See the complete miners guide by halada for more details. Also for reprocessing you need the skills for T2 crystals anyway to get 0 wast, which is huge.

Also were I to use mining drone 2’s My ore yeild would be 1859. So in high sec mining veld that would be the way to go.

hehe I like it. But I am just starting to crosstrain now and dont have Caldari BS yet.

I wonder if my apoc would work well compared to that Rokh.

    • Well, the major limiting factor in making a mining battleship is its CPU. The Apoc has less than the Rokh, and the extra low slots (for co-processors) don’t quite make up for it.

I don’t really recommend using this though. I made it mainly for the lulz. :P

  1. Wayyy back in the day ( 2007) as I recall the Corp I was with did mine…I did it in my Rokh…the one PITA is the transferring of the ore to the can…remember back then you did not have gang’s of weapons but rather you had to toggle each one. I used to keep up with the rokh and I had 10X the ability to tank rats indefinitely…fun ship, but my mining days are past me now so now I’d prolly fit rails :)

  2. I actually used this setup in my noob mining days. I think it was faster for me to get into a Rokh than a mining barge so it made sense at the time.

Oh boy when you are a bad player and things go bad and you have just a BS and the way to empire is full of nasty people you do whatever you can to earn some iskies.

“I made it for the lolz” is the name of my Angel ratting rupture.

There she goes killing a 1.250.000 rat!!!

  3. If I ever saw a Rokh mining, I would get together 10 people into suicide Brutix’s just to suicide gank it.
